Abstract

We compare two approaches for the computation of return period wave in shallow waters: 1) Perform Extreme Value Analysis (EVA) on offshore wave data and propagate design waves toward the coast (approach referred to as DW-EVM), and 2) Propagate the whole time-series to the coast first, then compute EVA on the downscaled data (referred to as SW-EVM).
