Abstract
The morphological aspects of the design of shore-parallel breakwaters are investigated through a series of tests using a two-dimensional (in the horizontal plane) morphological modelling system. The analysis focuses on the optimisation of the breakwater length and its distance to shore in order to achieve the desired type of response. The results obtained are compared to empirical formulas from the literature and observations from thefield.
