Abstract
Accurate modeling of wind directions is as important as accurate modeling of wind speeds when it comes to studying locally generated waves, particularly in areas of limited fetch and intermediate water depths like estuaries, as well as when analyzing the reliability and operability of coastal and offshore structures. In this paper we propose a new methodology for the simulation of non-stationary auto- and cross-correlated time series of wind speed and direction, which takes into account the circular nature of both the wind direction variable and its probability distribution function.References
