Abstract

With this study, considering two study sites at Black Sea coast of Turkey where in-situ wind measurements are available, it is planned to reveal the necessary steps that should be followed for the alternative wind and wave resource, ECMWF, that can be used for research and engineering purposes. The study involves comparing 6 hourly ECMWF wind data with in-situ wind measurements in terms of speed and direction, finding correlation between these two data sets, modifying the ECMWF wind data, wave modeling with W61 or SWAN or both in which the modified ECMWF wind data will be used as input, comparing the obtained wave data with in-situ wave measurements and comparing the in-situ wave measurements with ECMWF wave data and with obtained wave data. During these studies, it will be necessary to obtain hourly ECMWF wind data from 6 hourly ECMWF wind data with searching several best-fitting methods and using Matlab toolboxes for his study.
