Tohoku region, which is located on the northern part of the main island of Japan, has been devastated by some tsunamis in the past. It is of extreme importance from the perspectives of tsunami disaster prevention and mitigation to comprehend the failure mechanisms of coastal structures and nonlinear interaction between fluid and structure. In this study, a three-dimensional fluid-structure analysis model is proposed to discuss seawall failure mechanism caused by tsunami. The utility of the model is verified by applying it to the failure phenomenon of seawalls broken by the 2011 Great Tohoku Earthquake Tsunami.}, number={36}, journal={Coastal Engineering Proceedings}, author={Kawasaki, Koji and Nonaka, Tetsuya}, year={2018}, month={Dec.}, pages={structures.1} }
